Learn To Fly With The BAMS

Butler Aircraft Modelers Society is about the only club in the area to offer radio controlled airplane flight training.

If you are new to the wonderful world of flying radio controlled airplanes and would like to receive training in how to safely and properly operate an R/C airplane, we offer the best training in the area at our field.

Due to the varying schedules of our Instructors, training sessions are by appointment only during the months of May through September. If you have a trainer plane, bring it and one of our qualified club instructors will help you learn how to fly it. If you don't own a trainer plane yet, we have planes available for you to use for a short period of time until you purchase your own plane.

Training typically averages about 15 weeks. This time may be longer or shorter depending on your learning curve. We find that those who have access to and utilize one of the many excellent r/c flight simulators can solo in a shorter time frame.

Upon completion of your flight training, you will be required to pass a basic skills test. This test is to demonstrate that you have acquired the necessary basics of r/c airplane+ flying. Until you have passed this test and received your second class wings, you will be required to fly under the supervision of a flight instructor. Once you have satisfactorly completed the 2nd Class Wings requirements, you can start working on achieving your 1st Class Wings. You can see the requirements for the advance pilot when you CLICK HERE. So, if you're interested in learning to fly radio controlled airplanes, be sure to check out our excellent training program.
