About The BAMS
The BAMS (Butler Aircraft Modelers Society) is an Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) chartered, non-profit club dedicated to the radio controlled model aircraft hobby and is open to anyone interested in model aviation. Our flying field is located between Route 308 and Route 38 in Butler County, Pennsylvania. The club’s main purposes are promoting, education, advancement and safeguarding of remote control modeling activities.
The BAMS R/C Club is a recreational, community oriented, radio controlled aircraft flying club that provides members and visiting AMA registered pilots with a beautiful, secure radio controlled flying site unlike any other flying field in the tri-state area. Our community involvement has included fund raising to benefit Wounded Warriors and the Pennsylvania State Police. We have also contributed to the Scouts and other charitable organizations.
The BAMS, as a club, was formed more than 40 years ago by a small group of pilots who, through dedication and hard work, were able to secure the land which we still enjoy to this day. Our field provides handicap access to our field and it anemities. We offer well-manicured grass runways, ample pit area large enough to accomodate a dozen airplanes and all your gear. We also offer a covered pavillion with picnic tables where we conduct membership meetings and enjoy family picnic’s at least once a month during the warmer weather. And last, but not least, our flying field has full restroom facilities for pilots and visitors. Our current membership includes residents throughout Butler County, Allegheny County and surrounding areas.
We at the BAMS R/C Club welcome visitors and anyone interested in flying radio control airplanes to our club to watch, ask questions and partake in flying activities. We have AMA approved instructors available to train new pilots. If you are interested in trying your hand at flying, but do not have all the equipment yet, we have aircraft at the field available for training purposes or for those who are interested in giving it a try. We ask that you contact the club in advance to arrange your visit if you are interested in trying your hand at flying one of the club’s training aircraft.
